Duo pedal for a £3,000 booster

A dynamic duo of charity bike riders have raised almost £3,000 for the British Heart Found-ation in memory of a former colleague.

Nicky Chester and Nigel Doffman, who work at AGRA Birwelco Ltd on Mucklow Hill, took up the challenge of a sponsored 58-mile cycle from London to Brighton.

They decided to raise the money in memory of their late IT manager, Tony Spencer, who died last September, aged 49, from a heart attack.

Nicky, who lives in Cradley Heath, said: "Tony was a close friend of mine and when he died I decided I wanted to do something in his memory.

"The day was lovely with a fantastic atmosphere but I also found it very emotional."

Nicky finished in six-and-a-half hours despite an accident but intrepid Nigel finished in just five hours 30 minutes.
