Charity hill ride

From the archive, first published Thursday 27th Jul 2000.

A horse-mad Halesowen woman is organising a sponsored ride across Clent Hills to raise more than £1,000 for charity.

The event, co-ordinated by Terri Goodwin, of Huntingtree Road, is in aid of the NSPCC and is planned for Sunday August 20.

Terri will join in the ride along with her children Alanah, 13, and ten-year-old Arron.

The 35-year-old recovery nurse has supported the NSPCC for many years and wanted to do something on a larger scale.

Terri said: "If the event is a success I will definitely run it again next year."

The 15-mile ride from 9.30am to noon starts at Penorchard show field, Hagley Wood Lane.

Those wishing to participate can either collect at least £10 in sponsorship and pay £2 on the day or just pay £6 on the day.

Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. For details call Terri on 0121 550 0718.
