Police hunt owners of getaway car

From the archive, first published Thursday 19th Apr 2001.

Police are hunting the owners of a car used in a catalogue of crimes in the last week, including a burglary in Halesowen.

The grey Renault 9 GTX, registration E56 MFA, was used by two men who stole jewellery worth £400, a mobile phone and a camera from a house in Middlefield Avenue.

The owner was in his garden when the pair sneaked in through the garage door at 3.50pm on Good Friday.

The first was white, late teens, five feet eleven, of small build wearing a black wooly hat with a white stripe down the back. His accomplice was also a white male, aged under 20.

Police believe the car was also used to carry out car break-ins at Himley Hall car park on Thursday April 12 and burglaries in Quarry Bank and Stourbridge on Good Friday.
