A 26-year-old Amblecote man took his own life after being let down by a woman he met on the internet, an inquest heard.
Christopher Hall was found in his pick up truck in the garage of his Church Avenue home on March 18.
There was a tube running into the vehicle and paracetamol packets by Mr Hall's feet.
Mr Hall, who was single, had been due to go to America to see a woman he met on the internet but she had cancelled at the last minute.
He was also unable to work after injuring his back in a car accident five years ago and was still in pain despite undergoing surgery.
He said goodnight to his parents at about 9.30pm and was found the next day.
A note was left apologising for the hurt he was causing but saying he had intended it to happen.
At an inquest the cause of death was given as carbon monoxide poisoning and coroner Victor Round recorded a verdict that he took his own life.
