'Don't suffer in silence' message to victims

A group set up to crack down on domestic violence is being launched at Himley Hall on Friday to coincide with International Women's Day.

The group is sending out the message for victims of domestic violence to not suffer in silence as there are people out there to help.

PC Susan Dunn, domestic violence officer at Dudley South operational command unit said: "Domestic violence can affect all members of the community - irrespective of age, gender, class or culture, but the vast majority of victims are women.

"Therefore, in the light of this - we felt while International Women's Day is not only a time to celebrate the best in women, it is also time to highlight there may be some women out there suffering, and it is imperative for us to reach out to them."

The event starts at 9.30am at Himley Hall and will be attended by the Bishop of Dudley, Rt Rev David Walker, ch supt Simon Cole, the Mayor of Dudley, cllr John Walters and Dudley South MP Ian Pearson.
