Volunteers awarded for a century of service

From the archive, first published Thursday 20th Nov 2003.

Dedicated volunteers at Dudley Age Concern - who have notched up more than 100 years of service between them - were rewarded at a ceremony this week.

The group, which has 100 active workers, dished out certificates to 20 people who had achieved the three-year milestone, three for reaching four years' service and three for staying true to the cause for a decade.

Support services manager Kate Coxen said: "We simply would be unable to deliver our services without this tremendous commitment from our volunteers - they are great."

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can call Kate on 01384 357113.
