Go-karting race track gets go-ahead

PLANS for a £400,000 karting centre have got the green light from development boss Les Jones.

The Tory councillor and cabinet member for economic regeneration has welcomed the scheme, which will see an indoor race track on the Mill Race Lane industrial estate in Stourbridge.

The Full Throttle centre will provide go-karting and mini motorbike racing and could create up to 40 new jobs.

Cllr Jones said: "It's good from every point of view.

"Forty jobs has got to be good and we are short of high quality facilities so it is good for the community," he said.

The track needed one-off planning permission because the estate is already set aside for industry.

A Dudley Council spokesperson said: "The application was approved in April.

"The site is designated for industrial use but in view of the vacancy rate there we looked at this application and decided it would benefit the estate.

"The application has been approved for the unit to be used specifically for this use."

The centre is set to open next month.
