A FORMER fireman turned artist is holding a unique exhibition in Stourbridge.
Dave Reeves, of Dudley, never thought he would lead such a busy retirement but the plucky pensioner says he loves spending his days painting pictures.
The 65-year-old dad of four, granddad of 12 and great-granddad of one said he has always taken an interest in art but never really took it seriously until he retired.
Dave, of Uplands Road, has travelled all around Europe painting but says he seeks most of his inspiration from his role in the fire service.
He added: "The fact I was in the fire service for such a long time has made me appreciate how valuable life is. I realise how much we have got to make the most it. And I deeply believe firemen are unsung heroes."
Dave clocked up more than 17 years of service and said his work reflects his positive outlook on life.
He added: "I draw positive pictures and have always considered myself to be optimistic."
He credited his success to his wife Rosie, who he says is his soul mate and greatest critic.
He even includes her in every picture adding: "I always draw two birds symbolising two free spirits - myself and my wife."
Dave's work will be exhibited at Paperway,High Street, Stourbridge, from Saturday July 2 until August 31. Visitors will also have the chance to buy framed prints.
