THE new borough mayor will celebrate his new role with a parade through the streets of Dudley town centre this weekend.
Councillor Ian Kettle will hold his Mayor's Sunday on June 19 with the parade followed by a civic service.
The parade will start from Ednam Road at 11am and will pass the council house in Priory Road where the mayor will take the salute from the officers of the uniformed organisations.
It will continue through Market Place to the High Street and come to a halt outside St Thomas & St Luke's Parish Church at around 11.20am.
The mayor and the parade will then attend a service at Top Church, taken by Rev Tony Attwood.
The Halesowen Scout Band and the Woolley Pritchard Sovereign Brass Band will accompany the parade back to the council house, for another salute.
Cllr Kettle said: "I hope people from right across the borough will join me on Mayor's Sunday either in the parade or at the church service.
"I would urge anyone who would like to join me to contact Margaret Gregory on 01384 815201."
A number of road closures will be in place on the day from 8am to 1.30pm.
These include Priory Road from The Broadway to New Street, St James Road from Trinity Road to Priory Street, High Street from New Street to Stafford Street, Wolverhampton Street from High Street to The Inhedge and Vicar Street from King Street to High Street.
Meanwhile the whole lengths of Ednam Road, New Street, Tower Street, Priory Street, Stone Street, Parsons Street, High Street/Market Place and Union Street will be closed off.
